Canyon offers an elite team-based coaching and training program for High School Ultimate players for the summer season.
Teams are formed after tryouts at the start of the season. Teams are classified as Touring and Regional teams, and compete in Open and Women divisions at British Columbia Ultimate Championship (BCUC - Regionals). The Touring teams aim to qualify for the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC - Nationals) via the BCUC - Regionals.
All teams participate in other local tournaments throughout the summer season as determined by the Canyon staff.
Tryout Information
Touring and Regional teams will be formed after tryouts at the start of the summer season. All players must register online before they are permitted to participate in the tryout.
- Touring Tryouts
- For Canyon - Open and Women, and Ascent Open
- Players trying out for touring teams must be able to attend CUC (Nationals) in Ottawa from August 11-14.
- Touring tryouts are open to all players, however it is strongly recommended that players attending these tryouts have previous competitive ultimate experience or competitive experience in another sport.
- Make sure to bring a light/dark jersey, cleats, and water to tryouts please!
- Regional Tryouts
- For Apex Open and Apex Women
- Players on regional teams will not attend nationals in a playing capacity.

- Tryouts schedule is as follows:
- Tryout #1: Saturday, May 11th at Ray Perrault Grass
- For Open teams - 10am to 12pm
- For Women teams - 12pm to 2pm
- Tryout #2: Sunday, May 12th at Ray Perrault Grass
- For Open teams - 10am to 12pm
- For Women teams - 12pm to 2pm
- Tryout #3: Saturday, May 18th at Ray Perrault Grass
- For Open teams - 10am to 12pm (This is optional if you have attended either the first or second tryout)

2024 Tryout Fee
The tryout fee is $20.00 and covers field costs and expenses associated with the extended tryout process. Registration opens on Thursday, 25th April.
How to Register
Complete these steps to register:
- Registration will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis once registration opens.
- Registration is completed online. We accept payment by credit card, Visa Debit, or e-transfer.
- If a player U19 registers themselves, they must also get Parental Consent. Emails are sent to the player and parent/guardian with instructions.
- Read the before your register page and then register online once registration opens.

Touring Teams
Touring teams are formed with the intent of qualifying for, and competing in, the Canadian Ultimate Championships (Nationals).
Program information
- Format: Team based training (Open and Women division)
- Duration: June to August (3 times per week)
- Timeslot: Below times and locations will be confirmed by the Canyon team with each registered participant after the teams are formed.

- Participants will receive exact information about their training schedule after teams are formed
- Excludes statutory holiday for Canada Day (July 1st)
- Canyon Open -
- Schedule: 2-3 hrs per session
- Location: Ray Perrault Park and Hugo Ray Park
- Age: All players should be in high school, from age 14 to 18 years (grade 9-12) as of December 31st the ongoing year.
- Inclusivity: All players are welcome, including LGBTQ2+ and transgender
- Equipment required: Water bottle, Cleats or runners can be used on synthetic turf fields, but we recommend cleats. Everyone must bring a dark AND light t-shirt.

Fees for Touring
Base player fees are payable online by credit card upon offer of a playing position.
- Base Player Fees: $720.00 incl. GST
- Estimated CUC Travel Fees: $775 incl. GST (due upon qualification for CUC 2024)
Base Camp Fees include:
- Elite coaching - Each team will have three dedicated coaches, who will guide you through tryouts, practices, games and tournaments.
- All tournament and event fees including Misfit Cup, Regionals, BCU Tune up* OR Vortex Cup
- Two personalized sublimated jerseys and one pair of shorts.
- A disc for every registrant.
- Fields, equipment, membership, insurance, and administration fee.
*BCU Tune up will be tentative "practice" tournament for BC junior teams qualified for the CUC. More information coming soon from BCU.
Estimated CUC Travel Fees include:
- CUC Player Fees per player
- Accommodation at Carleton University
- Breakfast and Dinner at Carleton University
- Field food
Players are responsible for their own transportation (flights) to/from Ottawa. Flight information will be provided in July after CUC qualification.
