Membership Fee Increase effective Winter 2026
To align with membership fee increases by BC Ultimate and Ultimate Canada, our membership fee will be changing for the first time in over 10 years.
Every time you register for a league, clinic, club, or program at Vancouver Ultimate, you currently pay a membership fee of $10 for adults or $5 for youth. These amounts cover your memberships with Ultimate Canada and BC Ultimate (which we collect and submit each year), and help support shared member services at Vancouver Ultimate, like insurance.
We will be updating our membership fees for all programs that begin after January 1, 2026:
- For adults, the membership fee will be $14.25
- For youth, the membership fee will be $10.34
We appreciate your understanding as we implement these changes. This update ensures we remain aligned with our governing bodies in order to maintain safe, well-supported programming. These modest increases help sustain national and provincial initiatives that strengthen the sport, foster growth, and support efforts to keep ultimate accessible for all. We will also be assessing our fee structure for improvements over the coming year.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the new fees take effect?
The new membership fees will go into effect for programs that start after January 1, 2026. This means all winter league registration will reflect the new fee set. The final program to have the current fee set will be the Reign Santa Hat Tournament, which runs on December 27, 2025.
What is the long-term plan for future fee adjustments?
As we manage inflation and rising operational costs, we are exploring marginal annual adjustments moving forward. Because this is our first increase in a while, the 2026 change is more substantial—albiet only $4.25. Future adjustments would be incremental—likely only a matter of cents. We hope to complete a long-term adjustment schedule by the end of 2026.
What do the bylaws say about membership fees?
2.6 Fees – Membership fees will be determined by the Board.
2.7 Deadline – Members will be notified in writing of the membership fees at any time payable, and if the membership fees are not paid within sixty (60) days of the membership renewal date or notice of default, the Member in default will automatically cease to be a Member of the Society.
